There will not be a school-wide response to President Obama’s speech on Sept. 8th. Teachers will conduct class on that day as they normally would. Dr. Heath, Director of Schools, states:
If there is material that matches their curriculum for that day and it is expected that President Obama’s speech will demonstrate or exemplify that objective, or if it will produce talking points to accomplish that objective, then an individual teacher might develop a lesson plan that uses the speech as one of the components. It should only be utilized if its sole purpose is as an educational component that will meet one of the state curriculum objectives for a particular class.
Parents and their children will have many opportunities to watch the address together at home. |

The Ravenwood Marching Band is sponsoring the Perpetual American Flag service program in the Brentwood, and Nolensville area. The service that is provided is that the band installs a 3' X 5' American flag in your front yard by the curb on 4 holidays - Labor Day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day (2010), and 4th of July (2010). The students place the flags in the early am of the holiday, and then they remove them at sundown. You get the pleasure of showing your patriotic spirit, and supporting the marching band students, plus the band stores the flag for you. The subdivisions that we are offering this program to currently are: Avalon, Benington, Brookfield, Carriage Hills, Catalina, Governors Club, Hampton Reserve, Inglehame Farms, Liberty Downs, Oak Hall, Raintree Forest, The Reserves of Raintree, Willowmet, Winterset Woods, and Woodlands of Copperstone. We will be adding more neighborhoods in the future. Already over 300 homeowners have joined the program. When lots of people participate in a neighborhood the look is amazing. Now is the time to sign up for the Labor Day display. The cost of the service is $40 which gets you the American Flag, and the 4 installations. To sign up email the band at RHSflag@hotmail.com They will send you the form to join this great program. |
